Developing Skills

I have been able to apply my understanding of tablature notation to help me learn to play single note melodies and riffs. During the Individual Practise Project, I demonstrated that I am able to evaluate whether or not web resources are appropriate for my level. I can play the pentatonic blues scale using alternate picking.

Thinking Creatively and Responding
7 - 8:
Using the pentatonic minor scale, I was able to compose an interesting blues solo over a given chord progression. I was able to identify an artist from whom I would take influence, take note of the key characteristics of their playing and explore ways to use their techniques and ideas at my level . Through trial and error I came up with an interesting improvised composition.

Using the pentatonic minor scale, I was able to compose a very simple blues solo over a given chord progression. I made some effort to identify an artist from whom I would take influence, identified a very limited number of the characteristics of their playing and did not really explore ways to use their techniques and ideas at my level. My short blues solo was not really something I worked well on.

ATL - Practise focus and concentration
I was able to practise focus and concentration during class sessions and took the initiative to seek help from Mr Turner when I could not.
Most of the time, I was able to practise focus and concentration during class sessions and took the initiative to seek help from Mr Turner when I could not.
I should try to practise focus and concentration during class sessions. I need to take more initiative to seek help from Mr Turner when I am having trouble with this.

ATL - Practise "bouncing back" after adversity, mistakes and failures
I was able to "bounce back" after bad-sounding attempts at new riffs or melodies. I kept on practising even when it seemed that I would never get there , realising that it is necessary to make mistakes in order to improve.

I had trouble "bouncing back" after bad-sounding attempts at new riffs or melodies. When it seemed that I would never "get there" I sometimes gave up. I need to realise that it is necessary to make mistakes in order to improve and remember to ask for help with this when feeling demotivated.
